Absolutely. The online registration will ask you to indicate whether or not you would like to add additional volunteer roles. You many volunteer for as many shifts as you wish.
Yes. The non-ISU faculty/staff volunteer will need to complete a liability waiver at volunteer check-in. Please contact GraduationServices@IllinoisState.edu for additional volunteer registration information.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear their ISU nametags if available. Dress is generally business casual attire, but in roles visible to the ceremony audience, no jeans please. Volunteers are also encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. Specific volunteer attire will vary by role and will be indicated in the volunteer instructional e-mail.
There will be a continental breakfast available in Horton Fieldhouse beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday for volunteers. A volunteer brunch will be provided on Saturday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. for those volunteering for multiple shifts. The volunteer brunch includes scrambled eggs, bacon, pot roast, mashed potatoes, salad and vegetables with an assortment of pastries, and drinks.
Free parking is available in most ISU lots throughout commencement weekend. Please refer to Parking Services for a detailed map of available lots. Parking Services will also be on-hand throughout commencement to provide additional direction and assistance.
An instructional volunteer e-mail will be sent each volunteer registered to participate in commencement approximately one week prior to the ceremony.
Each shift generally lasts approximately two hours but may vary based on volunteer role.
Commencement is the ceremony recognizing any degree candidates for the current semester who choose to participate.
Graduation is the official granting of a degree after having met all degree requirements. Graduation does not take place until after the current semester's grades are posted which actually occurs after the commencement ceremony. Diplomas are not presented to students at commencement.
Volunteers, graduates and guests should listen to the Bloomington/Normal radio and television stations for cancellation information. If there is a cancellation due to inclement weather, commencement will not be rescheduled.
